    JMMS Clubs: Reading Club

    he J.M.M.S Reading Club was initiated 3 years ago and has continued to grow since then. This exciting club encourages and welcomes all students to join and participate in numerous literary activities. Our mission is to foster the love for reading and promote literacy. Some of the most interacting activities include book sharing, buddy reading, literature circles, and reading festivals school wide. Members of the club find buddy reading with neighboring Ben Sheppard Elementary School to be one of the most exhilarating and satisfying activities.

    As part of the Reading Club, students will:

  • Have a commitment to participate in all activities and attend scheduled weekly meetings
  • Attend monthly field trips on Fridays to Ben Sheppard Elementary, where they will do buddy reading with kindergarteners
  • Belong to a Book Club
  • Conduct book talks with selected Reading Knights classes in school
  • Participate in Reading Festivals.

    Membership Requirements

  • Anyone who enjoys reading is welcome to be part of the club.
  • Students must keep a minimum of As, Bs, and 4 Cs. No Ds or Fs will be accepted.
