he Jose Marti Newspaper-Journalism Club The Knight Herald focuses on educating students on the principles and foundations of journalism and reporting. Students learn a vast array of terminology commonly used in the journalism profession. Students also learn the different computer programs for page layout and designing. Opportunities are available for high-achieving students to interview and photograph school faculty and staff. Our reporters also report and photograph most school functions. Many of our reporters are in direct regular contact with the principal and assistant principals.
Our goal as journalists is to provide information and entertainment to our school community. Unlike a metropolitan newspaper, we are supported by the principal and do not rely on advertising for profits and publication. Students who are interested in this class should be proficient writers. Our students love to write and use writing as a way of expressing themselves, exposing problems, and praising accomplishments.

Membership RequirementsIf you are interested in the JMMS Newspaper-Journalism Club, you should be highly recommended by your Language Arts teacher. Students who wish to be future journalists or writers and have an interest in graphic design and photography are encouraged to apply. Our club also prepares students for journalism and newspaper on the high school level.
