he Junior Thespian Troupe is composed of Jose Marti’s finest performers and technical theatre students. The club meets the second and fourth Monday of every month and has additional rehearsals when working on a show or on competition. Only second year Drama students are invited to join the Jr. Thespian club. Troupe members must maintain a 2.0 cumulative average and a 3.0 average in Drama. The students, in collaboration with Ms. Ortiz, Troupe 88026’s sponsor, put together two main stage productions a year. They also create several smaller scale performances such as the FCAT Pep-Rally, the Hispanic Heritage Month, and Black History Month Assemblies.
...it is through the arts that children develop the sensitivity necessary to become intelligent and self-confident human beings...Students in this program are encouraged to write most of the work they perform and to express their creativity in various artistic forms. Junior Thespians also participate in field trips to see professional performances, compete at the district and state level and this year, they hope to visit New York City. Ms. Ortiz exposes her students to artistic culture and information in order to enrich their learning experiences. It is through the arts that children develop the sensitivity necessary to become intelligent and self-confident human beings with a strong ability to connect to the world around them.
