Dear Parents,

It is a wonderful time for your child to be a student at José Martí Middle School. I am writing you today, to share some of the benefits that your child is receiving in what we call the “José Martí Middle School Experience”. • A 45 percent decrease in suspensions compared to last school year.
• Extensive ESOL program with a full time ESOL Support Teacher.
• This year alone, the school has received over 150 new computers through Title 1 funding.
• Extensive Special Education Department with a full time Inclusion Support Teacher.
• Advanced Academic Program including gifted instruction in the four core subject areas.
• Opportunities to participate and excel in the Odyssey of the Mind and the Fairchild Challenge.
• Three new “Mobile Computer Labs” with 24 laptops in each lab designed to enhance classroom instruction.
• Three new computer labs with “Smart Classroom” Technology for enhanced presentations and dynamic instruction.
• Diverse class courses such as Web Design, TV Production, Law Studies, Band, Drama, Art, Woodshop, Technology, Family and Consumer Science, Journalism, and Yearbook.
• Tutorial services throughout the school year include, Tutoring Academy for Limited English Proficient (LEP) Students, Saturday Academy, FCAT Tutoring through Title I, Scholar Academy (levels 3-5), Creative Learning and Play (CLAP) and daily Media Center Tutorial.
